If you or a loved one have received abnormal results on an imaging test or are experiencing symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain, an upper endoscopy may provide invaluable knowledge to determine the source and find a solution. An upper endoscopy is a diagnostic test to identify the potential causes of gastrointestinal symptoms and the best treatment for issues affecting the upper GI. An upper endoscope uses a long, flexible tube equipped with a camera known as an endoscope to view the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. To learn more about how an upper endoscope can help diagnose your GI symptoms, contact Mississippi Institute of Weight Loss & Gulf Coast Aesthetics in Gulfport, MS today to schedule an appointment. Dr. Balder can skillfully use an upper endoscope to diagnose your issues and use that data to formulate the best course of action to help you get back on the road to better GI health.

Dr. Balder and his team will provide detailed information on how to best prepare for your upper endoscopy at Mississippi Institute of Weight Loss & Gulf Coast Aesthetics. You may be instructed to discontinue blood-thinning medications a few days before the procedure and fast for 4 – 8 hours prior to your upper endoscopy. During the procedure, medication will be administered to numb the mouth and throat. A mild sedative may also be given through an IV. Once numb, the endoscope will be inserted into the mouth and advanced through the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. The procedure typically takes between 15 – 30 minutes to perform.

I have been a patient of Dr. Balder for the last 10 months and cannot say enough good things about him and his practice. My office visits have consisted of hormone replacement therapy, threads, and Opus Plasma for acne scarring. I left each visit pleased with the positive effects of the treatment provided. He has taken the time to listen to my concerns and formulated the best plan for me. His office staff is extremely pleasant and knowledgeable as well. If you are looking for a Doctor that has patience, understanding and provides what you are actually looking for, I HIGHLY recommend Dr Balder.

Dr. Balder has a good bedside manner. He explains what is happening and why. He is patient, conscientious, and even keeled. Not only to his patients, but from what I can tell, to his staff as well. His prices are very reasonable. You can tell he’s providing quality for a fair price for elective type services. Definitely recommend.
